The annual 72 Film Fest, now in it's 4th year, brings dozens of filmmakers from around the region together for a race against time to write, direct, edit and score a short movie in only 72 Hours.
Continuing from last year's smash success, 2009 will be a 2 Day Festival: Saturday Night, October 10th will be the Main Event where only the top judged films will screen (along with a few surprises). Friday Night will host every eligible 2009 entry. Patrons new to 72 Film Fest are encouraged to attend Saturday Night, while those looking for everything local Film Makers have to offer should attend both nights.
What is the 72 Film Fest?
Every October local directors, writers, actors, editors, set designers, musicians and more gather in downtown Frederick to assemble their teams to compete in the "72 Film Fest Challenge". Filmmakers are given specific criteria to make their film, such as a length or elements to include. Past year's criteria for the filmmakers ranged from themes and international proverbs to first lines from novels. 2009's criteria will be kept secret until the FREE Launch Party October 1st at Cultural Arts Center.
Teams compete for prizes and awards like the coveted "Best of the Fest" and "Audience Choice".
