More about Tuba Christmas

Enjoy Merry TubaChristmas® a regional gathering of Tuba and Euphonium players performing 4-part traditional Christmas carols. These instruments in an orchestra very rarely have melody lines. The warm, rich organ-like sound of the tuba-euphonium choir has won ears and hearts of every audience. Frederick County’s Merry TubaChristmas® has attracted over 70 participants, aged 8 to 80 years, and will be celebrating its 8th year of this event. Created by Harvey Phillips and performed in over 200 cities throughout the United States and in several foreign countries Merry TubaChristmas® is held world-wide and will be celebrating its 36th Anniversary in 2009. About the Organist

Ray Brubacher is no stranger to the Weinberg - or to the mighty Wurlitzer. He headed the restoration project on the organ in 1970 and again in 1976, after the Great Flood of Frederick submerged much of the theatre's interior. A member of the Potomac Valley Theatre Organ Society, Mr. Brubacher has served as staff organist for the American Film Institute Theatre since 1973 and is also the silent film accompanist for the National Gallery of Art and the Mary Pickford Theatre in the Library of Congress.
