Art GalleryWeinberg Center for the Arts presents the photography of William Sherman The Weinberg Center for the Arts in Frederick, Maryland will feature William Sherman's photography collection Scenic Maryland during the months of April and May 2010. The exhibit focuses on the beauty of the state of Maryland from the Atlantic Ocean, to the mountains of Western Maryland, and everywhere in-between.
Always a lover of nature, Bill has been an avid birder for the past 30 years, traveling up and down the Atlantic Coast, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, California, and the Bahamas to pursue his birding hobby. During his travels Bill has seen some beautiful and diverse birds, but also many of natures other beauties such as butterflies, flowers, sunsets and gorgeous scenery. People would often ask Bill if he took photographs of the things he saw during his travels, and unfortunately for most of those 30 years he did not. The thought of photographing nature's beauties as he traveled around moved him into the digital camera world in 2005. Retirement from the Federal Government in 2007 gave him much more time to pursue his interest in nature photography.
His desire to photograph nature subjects and birds in particular, took Bill on photographic journeys to interesting and scenic spots in Maryland from Ocean City, to Baltimore, to Frederick and Western Maryland. Along the way, he expanded his photographic interests from birds to focus on the scenic beauty of the state of Maryland. Bill's Scenic Maryland series and this Weinberg show highlight the beauty of Maryland from ocean waves to mountain waterfalls.
When Bill decided to include photography with his interest in birding and other nature subjects, we were all fortunate. He now takes his camera with him everywhere he goes, and has captured some remarkable images highlighting the beauty of our state of Maryland.
His web sites, www.wshermanphotography.photostockplus.com or www.istockphoto.com/WilliamSherman feature some of his other work and prints that are available for sale.
