Frederick School of Classical Ballet’s productions of “Cinderella” will be under the artistic direction of Joyce Morrison.
Composer Sergei Prokofiev based “Cinderella” on the Russian version of the fairy tale, where the title character is tormented by her stepsisters and her stepmother and is living a life of drudgery. The family receives an invitation to the Prince’s ball one day, with Cinderella excluded. Her fairy godmother appears, however, and prepares her for the ball with the help of the season fairies, who give her magical gifts of shoes, a cloak, coat and tiara. Cinderella is sent to the ball, where she meets the Prince and falls in love.
