Bill Nye has dedicated his life to helping foster a scientifically literate society and helping people everywhere understand and appreciate the science that makes the world work. His career began as an engineer at Boeing, but not long after going to work for them, Nye began to combine his love of science with his flair for comedy, developing dual careers as an engineer by day and a stand-up comic by night. Eventually, Nye quit his day job and made the transition to a comedy writer and performer on Seattle’s homegrown ensemble comedy show “Almost Live,” where “Bill Nye the Science Guy®” was born.
Nye won seven national Emmy® Awards for writing, performing, and producing “Bill Nye the Science Guy®.” The show itself won 18 Emmys in five years. Nye has authored five children’s’ books about science: “Big Blast of Science,” “Bill Nye’s Consider the Following,” “Bill Nye The Science Guy’s Big Blue Ocean,” “Bill Nye The Science Guy’s Great Big Dinosaur Dig,” and “Bill Nye The Science Guy’s Great Big Book of Tiny Germs.” In addition to his children’s’ books, he is also the author of “Undeniable – Evolution and the Science of Creation,” which was featured on the New York Times’ Bestseller List.
Nye currently serves as CEO of the Planetary Society, the world’s largest space-interest group. Previously, he was elected the American Humanist Association’s Humanist of the Year in 2010, and he was also the honored by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers with the Ralph Coates Roe Medal in 2012. In addition to his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University, he holds Honorary Doctorate degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Goucher College, Johns Hopkins University, Quinnipiac University, Willamette University, and Lehigh University.

MD Regional Ballet presents Frederick School of Classical Ballet in
Under the direction of Joyce Morrison, this full length production will feature professional guest artists Ellen Grocki and Reyneris Reyes, both of whom are dancers with Miami City Ballet. Ms. Grocki will dance the role of Princess Aurora and Mr. Reyes will dance the role of Prince Desire.
The ballet retells the loved and familiar story of Princess Aurora, who, at her christening, is bestowed with the gifts of virtue by her fairy godmothers. But as we all know, the fairy Carabosse, arrives uninvited at the celebration and in her anger pronounces an evil curse upon the Princess, proclaiming that on her 16th birthday, Princess Aurora shall prick her finger and die! The benevolent Lilac Fairy quickly comes to the rescue and casts another spell upon Aurora which softens the curse so that instead of dying, Princess Aurora will fall into a deep sleep until awakened by a kiss from a handsome prince. When Princess Aurora turns sixteen, the Royal Family and the Court celebrate with a party and Carabosse arrives in disguise and presents Princess Aurora with a spindle as a gift. The unknowing Princess pricks her finger on it and collapses. The Lilac Fairy quickly appears and reminds the King and Queen that the Princess will not die, but instead will sleep and she casts a spell over the entire court to sleep with her. The Princess and the Court sleep for one hundred years until Prince Desire, while hunting with members of his Court, dreams of his ideal love. The Lilac Fairy appears before him and leads the Prince to the sleeping Princess Aurora. He awakens her with a kiss and the evil spell is immediately broken. Prince Desire and Princess Aurora fall immediately in love, and the ballet concludes with a joyous wedding celebration.

GRAMMY® award-winning percussionist and producer Jeff Haynes has toured with a number of acclaimed artists, including Glen Hansard, The Pat Metheny Group, Al Jarreau, Lizz Wright, Harry Belafonte, Peabo Bryson, and Cassandra Wilson, whom he toured and recorded with for nearly 20 years.

Sara Milonovich (vocals, fiddle, guitar) is the front woman/founder of the indie roots-rock band Daisycutter and has also performed with Richard Shindell, Pete Seeger, The McKrells, Cathie Ryan, Eliza Gilkyson, Anne Hills, and Antje Duvekot.
Richie Stearns (banjo) has toured with Natalie Merchant, The Horse Flies, Tony Trischka, and Carrie Rodriguez.
