Each year, the Frederick Speaker Series invites some of the world’s best and brightest minds to take center stage. Past seasons have included Tom Brokaw, Colin Powell, and Cal Ripken, among others. Now entering its fourth year, the Series has established downtown Frederick as a hub for intellectual, eye-opening lectures with a regional draw. Help Lead the Conversation! We’re looking for an elite group of sponsors to support the Frederick Speaker Series in bringing ideas and insights to our community with engaging, world-class speakers. Your organization—with partners such as the Ausherman Family Foundation, The C. Burr Artz Trust, Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc., and Frederick County Bank—can help spark Frederick’s intellectual curiosity and lead a conversation that will enrich, entertain and enlighten.
(Performance lineup will be announced in August)
The Live! Series at the Weinberg Center for the Arts is full of headliners. Each year, this series includes approximately 50 performances by well-known comedians, world-class musicians, and acclaimed dancers. Recent seasons have included Rosanne Cash, Kevin James, Lyle Lovett, the Blind Boys of Alabama and so much more. We call it the Live! Series because it includes everything you would want to see live, including concerts, comedy, dramatic theater and dance. Join us in celebrating the best in the arts!
Help bring learning to life for young minds! This series of daytime performances busses over 15,000 schoolchildren a year to the Weinberg Center from Frederick County Public Schools. This program has been active for 25 years, and brings nearly every Frederick County family in touch with the Weinberg at some point in their childhood. Recent examples of curriculum-related performances have included: Freedom Train (dramatizing the lives of slaves traveling through the Underground Railroad), Shakespeare Alive! and Super-Scientific Circus. Studies show at-risk students who have access to the arts in or out of school have better academic results, better workforce opportunities, and more civic engagement, according to a recent NEA report. Partner with us to bring learning to life for diverse students in our area through the smARTS Series.
